Clean and Quiet Standby Power in the City
FDL Generators, in cooperation with Bradgate Containers have just finalized the manufacture and
installation of a 900 kVA standby generator for the IT department of the University Of London.
The local council however insisted on a dramatic reduction in exhaust emissions and this was achieved
by the fitting of a Urea injection system from Hug Engineering. This must be one of the "cleanest" sets in
London having reduced the carbon emissions by 98% and, with a noise level of only 65dBA at 1 metre, one of
the quietest.
The installation of the standby generator is part of the University of London Computer Centre's (ULCC)
ongoing commitment to providing leading edge hosting solutions for its customers. With a state of the art
data centre already in place, the standby generator enhances the range of security features of the suite by
ensuring all aspects of the data centre remain available, including the air conditioning, in the event of
the suite losing power.
The benefits of the new standby generator are available with all its co-location, managed, and virtual
server hosting packages. These enhancements, when combined with its not-for-profit pricing model, make ULCC
one of the most cost effective hosting providers in the market today.
